History of the Premier League
The English Premier League is a world renown league in which most of the top football teams are apart of. The Premier League is known for being the best football league in world consisting of 20 teams in England and Wales. The best players and teams showcase their talents in what is the most popular sports league in the entire world. There are iconic clubs that are apart of the Premier League including Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and many more. Though the English Premier League is so famous, it has not been around for all that long.
The English Premier League started in 1992 when the first division English teams decided there needed to be a change in the structure of football in order for the game to prosper and flourish. The first campaign started in August of 1992 with 22 teams competing for the title. A lot of the same clubs we see today were the ones competing for this first title. But, in 1995 they reduced the number of teams from 22 clubs to 20 clubs in the premier league and from this point on 3 teams are relegated and promoted at the end of each season.
The Premier League has done an outstanding job growing the game of soccer and transforming it to the game that is today. They have a system that allows viewers to be entertained and inspired by watching the Premier League's high level matches.
I had no knowledge of the premier league before this class began. It is interesting to hear most of the top teams are in this league. I would like to learn more about the championship in this league. This league has seemed to do well in terms of player and team success and awareness.
